the mirettes - to love somebody
Robbie Montgomery, Venetta Fields and Jessie Smith were initially members of the Ikettes who backed Ike and Tina Turner, but left after Ike chose different Ikettes to go on tour with. They formed this group called the Mirettes in 1966 and had a number of hits with various companies. They broke up in 1971. This song was a hit for The Bee Gees and I have Carla Thomas' version too.

You Really Didn't Mean It
Carolyn Franklin was Erma Franklin's youngest sister. Another talented daughter of the reverend Franklin. Sadly she died young at 44 from cancer. Rest in Peace Carolyn.
Please Don't Ever Leave Me
The similarity to Erma, whom I have featured several times is quite pronounced here. Very nice picture of the beautiful Carolyn here.

VEDA BROWN-if loving you is wrong(i don't want to be right)
Veda Brown ( born Mildred Pelliam) was born 1949 in Hayti Missouri and started singing in the church where her mother was a minister. She won a contract with Stax and had some success there but married and had a family when Stax went bankrupt. She led a very successful choir encouraged by Mahalia Jackson and was chosen to be part of a traditional music movement in 2008, teaching in a University of Missouri program.

Carol Douglas - My Simple Heart
Taken me some time to come back to Carol Douglas born in 1948 in Brooklyn New York. She made 8 studio albums in Disco style and had a resurgence in the 90s. I have this song also done by the Three Degrees with Valerie playing glockenspiel. This is also very nice.
