The Jones Girls consisted of sisters Valerie,Shirley and Brenda Jones. They started out at G Records and had three successful albums. A highlight in their careers was being chosen by Diana Ross to be back up singers on her world tour. They were with Diana for three years. When this ended Diana helped them get their own act going.Shirley went solo after a fourth album flopped due to changing demands from fans and had a number 1 hit on the R&B charts.Sadly Valerie,who had had problems with alcohol abuse and depression, died in 2001 at the age of 45 and Brenda was killed while crossing a street when she visited her daughter in 2017 at the age of 65 . She had become homeless and lived in a shelter for some time before being moved to a residential hotel.RIP to them both.Shirley is still performing today in 2025. She had a high charting album with PIR and is doing well singing with two nieces.
