Merry Clayton was born in 1948 in New Orleans and is a Baptist, the daughter of a minister in that church. She is a Gospel and Soul singer and has worked with many big name artists She is most well known for her collaboration with the Rolling Stones and the song Gimme Shelter which they invited her to do.
