Love Makes A Woman

Here's another great track from Esther's 1979 album. As a bonus to her vocals is a backing which is a veritable wall of sound!

Esther Phillips - Cherry Red + Interview (Live video 1978)

One of my most precious Esther Phillips cd's is the concert at Onkel Po's Carnegie Hall in Hamburg West Germany. This is from a live appearance at the Jazz Festival Montreaux and it sounds very similar. Wonderful to have this live footage! What I did not realise from the cd was that those passages of Piano were actually Esther herself plying. Oh how I miss seeing her live! Would have paid big money to watch her stunning performance! And Cherry Red would have been the cherry o… See more

Esther Phillips "What A Diff'rence A Day Makes" LIVE 1976

A huge hit for Esther! But anything she does is a hit with me. Lovely to see her live!

Crazy Esther Phillips

Esther's version of Patsy Cline's big hit. Naturally it is Esther's version I plump for!

Esther Phillips -Too Many Roads Between Us , performed live

Esther Phillips was a unique artist in so many ways. Every one of these live videos is a treasure. I don't think we'll ever see her equal.

One Night Affait (Live)

Another track, One Night Affair. Some say Esther's voice is an acquired taste ,a mixture of honey and vinegar. The very first time I heard her I was a fan for life!

I've Never Found a Man (Live)

I ordered Esther Phillips live ar Onkel Po's, Hamburg, a venue holding 250. It shipped from Germany on 13th Dec 2022. I got it today. The SA post Office was shut for a couple of months because the landlord cut the power. It has now opened but still no power. A very kind lady sought my cd using cellphone light! She sms ed me to say she had found it! I wanted to give her a big kiss but she works behind bulletproof glass! Here's the leading track, I Never Found a Man like You

Esther Phillips - Georgia Rose 1973 tv

After a 5 month wait I am happy to say the Post Office found this waiting for me! A package containing Esther's Kudu Anthology and A beautiful Friendship and also the Black Eyed Blues and Capricorn Princess! 48 tracks in total. The liner notes are 13 pages of beautifully written details of how the songs came to be and many personal memories of Esther by David Nathan. He says she has a voice like honey and vinegar which is an acquired taste. Didn't need any acquiring for me! The moment I first heard her I was an absolute fan! Here's a song, done live here, from her years at Kudu Records, which was a period of great growth as an artist for her.
