Bettye LaVette - I Who Have Nothing @ 92Y NY,NY

Bettye LaVette at a 2013 concert in honour of song writer Mike Stoller. On August 16th 2021 I featured this song by Linda Jones and at the time I said that there is Soul then there's Deep Soul And there's Linda Jones. I now believe I've discovered another singer who gets down to that same depth!

I (Who Have Nothing) - Gladys Knight (1979)

Gladys doing a great cover of a song that Dame Shirley Bassey made famous. (Linda Jones had a Deep Soul version I posted some time back). This is Gladys' distinct "Gentle Soul" version.
