This is another of my favourite singers, Dee Dee Warwick who was the younger sister of Dionne Warwick . She comes from a very talented family, her cousin being Whitney Houston and her aunt being Cissy Houston. Sadly she passed away only in her early sixties but Dionne was gracious enough to say that Dee Dee was the real singer in the family. I agree with Dionne on that. Dee Dee has more inclination to Soul while Dionne is suited to more general/pop numbers such as the famous Burt Bacharach /Hal David numbers which shot her to great commercial fame. Dee Dee did not reach that level of fame, probably for two reasons. Firstly she was less commercial in appeal and secondly because she was open about being Lesbian at a time when this was not an acceptable thing to do. The song she does here has been done by a great many artists and I find the way they do it is a good litmus test of their ability. Doubtless to say Dee Dee passes with flying colours!
