Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye

The natural ,unforced and gentle voice of Bettye Swann again. This is the voice that makes her THE Queen of Soul in my opinion.

Bettye Swann - Cover Me

Bettye Swann again. Unfortunately not live but some nice stills nevertheless. Her wonderful smile evident except the one at 2.13 where she seems to be saying "And just where is your homework young man?"( Remembering the latter part of her career!)

Bettye Swann This Old Heart Of Mine R

The person in the attached clip is #BettyeSwann from Shreveport, Louisiana. Although commercial interests have not been all that kind to her ( you won't find her in shops in SA) I believe she is the top of the pile Absolute Queen of Soul/RnB. The visual with this is the cover of her compilation cd done with Atlantic Records. I was fortunate to obtain a copy from a collector in New Jersey who was selling off his collection. He had played it once, into his computer. I've done the same. I also found her Money Records compilation.Unfortunately she dropped out of recording at the age of 36 in 1980 when George Barton who was her husband and manager died. She became a school teacher for the rest of her working life except for one weekend of concerts in 2013 when she was 69 in the small English seaside town of Cleethorpes. The population of the town tripled as fans from all over the world came in for this special event. Unfortunately rcordings of the concert are not good, with the backing band up way too loud. If someone could remaster them I'd stand in line for the cd. Bttye has a beautiful, natural and unforced voice as is evident in this version of a song which was a big hit for The Isley Brothers.
