Beverley Knight - I Can't Stand The Rain (Official Audio)

Beverley here with a song composed by Ann Peebles and her husband when rain prevented them from going out to a show. Great hit for Ann but Beverley does well too here.

Piece of My Heart

Beverley with a song which was a huge hit for Erma Franklin and which I have featured two versions of. This is also very good.

"Come See About Me" - Nella Dodds

Nella Dodds again. Great rendition of a Holland Dozier Holland classic. Very powerful voice. This version is right up there with the likes of Bonnie Pointer! And in the looks department, wow.

Young Hearts Run Free

Frances Nero gives another take on Candi Staton's famous song here. Her voice is suited to the song although for me the song really only starts at 0.50 which is the point where Candi starts it under the tutelage of the great Rick Hall of FAME studios, a more stripped down version.

Some Things You Never Get Used To

Frances again with her take on a well known Supremes hit. Again the Supremes had a more stripped down version. But the drama of the earlier version is still there.

She was diagnosed with diabetes and became an activist for African Americans suffering from the disease. Married twice she had three children. Rest in Peace Angie.

A rather unique phrasing! Some say she sang half a note behind the band? Do you think that is true?
