Dorothy Moore Misty Blue

This is Dorothy Moore with her biggest hit featured on a BBC program in 1976. She was born in 1946 in Jackson Mississippi and brought up by her great grandmother who recognised that she had a vibrato singing voice when she was only 3 years old. She began singing in church at a very young age and was part of a gospel group while attending The State University in Jackson. Her career as an RnB/Soul singer took off in 1976 with this song featured here. She also brought many songs over from mainstream Adult Contemporary and Popular music genres.I chose this version of Misty Blue because it is live and shows her beautiful stage presence with a warm and engaging smile and her statuesque 6 foot 1 inch height off well. The only thing wrong with the video is that it is too short! She has a rich, warm and as her great grandmother noticed, vibrato voice. In 1986 she went back to her roots and made a much acclaimed Gospel album. She is still active today and I saw her doing Misty Blue in 2019 at the age of 73. Her hair is completely white but the voice has not changed perceptibly and she still has an engaging stage presence. She has quite rightly received many awards in her lifetime. I attempted to buy her album Misty Blue but had my money returned and "unobtainable" sent. Fortunately I found an alternative company who can definitely do it and it will arrive in time for my birthday! Couldn't wish for a better present!
